I've been looking for a while and can't find any info on the IKE's. I have about 100 of them, and all I know to look for is the S mint mark for silver clad. Can anyone give me some info on these, such as good dates, errors etc...
-Thanks guys, and any info is greatly appreciated!

One more question, are these worth keeping?

Are the worth keeping? It depends on how well you like them and what condition they are in. These were used in casinos so there are a lot of well experienced Ike's out there. I like the coins and I have a set of higher quality from each year and mint (MS65+). I have about 100 others myself that logic says I 'should' not keep but I have trouble parting with them. Not much help, am I?

For some reason I have quite a bit of IKE's. Its not that they're my favorite coin to collect, but they're cheap, readily available, some issues have silver, and the eagle on the moon design is pretty cool, in my opinion. I actually have a 1974 IKE that I carry around as a pocket piece. I also bought 125$ in IKES at face value right here on the site. Now, whenever I go to a resteraunt, I include one or two of them into the tip. I've gotten a lot of good reactions.

Ikes don't really bring much of a premium unless their either silver, a variety, or in excellent condition. I've gone to a couple coin shows where I've found them as low as a $1.25 apiece. Real lucky members here have even found some at their banks. So if your looking for an investment piece, its best to move on.

I personally love this series and though I never attempted to complete a set, I do have many high grade uncirculated pieces. One very interesting aspect on this series is that on a few different occasions, Silver Clad planchets were used to strike very small quantities of non-San Francisco coins creating some major modern rarities. Unfortunately, when they were cheaper I couldn't waste the cash, and today they've gone way up in price. ~ Jim
