I just bought one for my type set, certified MS-65 by ANACS. It has a few spots on it though, I can use acetone to get these off, right? it also has a lot of really nice toning, so that wouldn't be affected, correct?

Lastly, would the spots mean its overgraded? It seems to have the surfaces of an MS-65, and superb eye appeal, except for the spots : (

Acetone won't necessarily remove the spots - they'd have to be organic in nature, and mint-wash-related spots, such as plague Eagles and 1921 Morgan and Peace dollars, won't go away.

Used with due caution, acetone will do no harm.

Alright, I'll take pictures when I get back. I really WISH it didn't have these friggin' spots, it looks so nice otherwise!

Eh, it was too dark when I got back, so here's the auction:

I think I got a decent price, but the spots are much more obvious in hand, and I was kind of pre-occupied by the pretty toning : (

I don't think acetone will take off those spots, but it won't hurt to try. It is a very nice coin though and looks like pretty good deal. I like a toned coin myself.

If you want to save the toning, it's going to be real tough to get the spots off. If you're willing to sacrifice the toning, then a quick dip in E-Z-Est should remove them.

This coin is beautiful, though toned. I'd suggest simply reselling it if you prefer a blast white coin for your set.

No, I bought the coin because it was toned, but the spots kind of turned me off : (
