Not an error. The reeding has been worn off from circulation, possibly from being used in a vending machine. It also could of been an early stage Dryer Coin, but I doubt that.

Agree. At this point, I'm thinking early stage Dryer Coin. Several years ago a teller showed me a pile of 'damaged' quarters deposited by a laundromat manager. Some looked just like this.

Seems like the edge/reeding was removed/flattened. Could've been from a dryer.

The weakness of details (face, reverse rim @ K6, obverse rim K1to K5, star, etc) makes me wonder if this might be a weak strike.

Can you give us the weight in grams to the second decimal place and the diameter?
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
