Large Diameter Bust Quarter? - Coin Community Forum

BH1964 Bedrock of the Community United States 10982 Posts	Posted 04/04/2009 7:34 pm I looking at large diameter bust quarters for my 19th century type set and noticed the size listed as 29mm on CCF's US Coin Facts link: http://www.coincommunity.com/coin_f...ped_bust.asp I believe this is incorrect and the actual figure is 27mm. KenKat Pillar of the Community United States 4085 Posts	Posted 04/05/2009 8:33 pm They are 27mm prior to 1828 and 24mm after 1828. I believe both sizes were made in 1828. I have a 1825/4 in a nicely toned Fine. It is one of my favorite coins even though there isn't a place for it in my Dansco 7070. Something about that large diameter is really cool and unique. I read somewhere that while the Bust halves tended to be saved and/or ended up in bank vaults, the Bust quarters were mostly spent and so got heavy use.
