PCGS - With only 15 known, the 1879 $4 Coiled Hair Stella was a bid for a gold coin fit for global trade. Two designs were proposed for the issue, and this tightly coiled hair motif is now iconic among U.S. coins - in PCGS PR62 with only six higher, it recently sold for $576,000 at Heritage Auctions. #11088;
