2018 P Jefferson Nickel Possible Strike Through

donnie59 Pillar of the Community United States 781 Posts	Posted 11/03/2023 12:20 pm I came across this today CRH. On the left side of the memorial there appears to be a gouge. At first, I thought it was damaged, but after a closer look it appears to me it could be some sort of strike through. It looks like a gouge, but I can't see any displaced metal. It seems to encompass the left side from below the roof including the archway and the steps. If possible, I would like a few opinions on this one. Report this Post to the Staff

oddguy Pillar of the Community United States 4135 Posts	Posted 11/03/2023 1:43 pm If you are talking about the outer part of the building, those are just outlines of where die chips normally form. I have found dozen of them. It looks like a die chip is on the right side of the arch (if it is raised) and the rest are just hit marks. Report this Post to the Staff

The thing that got my wheels turning was the upper left part of the "ding" shows, what to me, looks like characteristics of a die chip, and I was wondering if there was anything more to it than a hit.
