Some catalogues list 2 varieties of the France 1955 100 Francs
a narrow ribbon and
a wide ribbon.

I have only one specimen, how can I tell them apart / identify which one I have?

@pert, looks like a combination of @boj's excellent photos and the notes toward the bottom of the numista page will together allow you to distinguish whether you have a narrow or wide ribbon. Here is the link:

I think I see it.

The "ribbon" in question is the piece of cloth on the obverse that's part of the headdress, running down from her cap, behind her hair, behind the torch flame, and then down and out to the rim of the coin.

The "narrow ribbon" stays much the same width as it approaches the rim. The "wide ribbon" gets noticeably wider. It's a subtle difference, but it's there. Not something I'd notice just looking at the coin without magnification.

In Bojan's post with four coins, the four coins are, from the top: narrow, wide, wide, narrow.
