Are you asking about the 1883 5c No Cents versus With Cents? If so, the answer is that the No Cents type was hoarded because there was a rumor that it was going to be recalled due to the ability to plate them and pass off as $5 coins. Thus while the mintage was 5 times less, they are way more plentiful. It's confusing because you are asking about the 1883 nickel on a thread about a 2 cent coin without specifying year or denomination. Report this Post to the Staff
