Hello there and thank you for clicking on this post. I'm very new to coins but my boyfriend recently discovered some silver coins. One that has caught our eye is the 1994 One Pound Fine Silver Troy coin. I have a few questions about it and was hoping the experienced folks over here could help! I'm more than happy to provide images if needed but for now, here's what we are working with:

It is a large coin with the Walking Liberty design on one face, and the "E Pluribus Unum" Eagle on the other.

The coin looks a bit discolored with some shine still. The edges are ribbed with two separate smooth areas. One reads, "1 Pound Troy 999 Fine Silver" and the other reads, "7242" which appear to be engraved into the coin.

We want to list it but I would want to be more informed about the coin itself before we part ways with it.

I'm very excited to learn more about this coin. Please reach out if you need any further information/images.

Thank you!

to the CCF, poppy! Your coin is a bullion coin sold by The Federal Coin Fund, a private company not affiliated with the U.S. government.
A troy pound is 12 troy ounces, so the melt value of it at the moment is 12 X $22.61 = $271.32.
Similar ones have sold on ebay in the $400 - $500 range.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
