I forgot that I had these Lincoln cents.. Found them today back in a room where I did not expect coins.. Then I remembered that I kept all Red Cents with no spots from the 80's and 90's till 1995 or so.. They came from a huge lot I bought from a guy who worked on a cruise ship for years..

I guess they are laying around for a decade or so, now wondering if I should keep them for another few decades so my kids will find them one day.. (already told my 14 yrs old son, he should look at every single coin from his dad collection, before he sells any.. )

What are your thought about these cents?
Thanks in advance..

I know that certain Plastics can react with coins especially copper and cause
very negative effects to those coins.

They still look red to me. If they have been in those bags for more than a decade, then then plastic might be okay for them.

Doesn't cost much to keep them, I guess.

Keep them. Maybe search for any errors or varieties, if you collect them.

These are polyethylene bags, they are coin safe and a good first level of protection.

Anything you can pass on to the next generation is a blessing. Pennies being my favorite coin, I'd love a gift of red pennies from any time. Thinking it'll be another couple decades those pennies will be worth the time y'all can spend together looking at the good old days. Or even starting a collection for the grandkids. I'd recommend finding some protective pages or rolls for them for now. I hope these kids nowadays don't lose touch of the little things in life.

Thanks for the replies..

The bags are indeed 'safe' to keep coins in.. (plasticizer free)
