I have hundreds of these from the 50s. Out of OBW rolls. 55 was a good year for them. I just put them down as incomplete mix. I call them tiger stripes. They range from one or two stripes to almost all yellow like yours. I like them.

Hi, Thank you. A lady on here had a post and some people posted a link to Ken Potter's article about yellow jacket coins. Some coins were zinc some were copper ( $25 to $75 per coin ) He may have had some for sale.. I saved the post but it was a wile back and now it is gone. Next time I will write it down. Thanks for helping me, Frank B.

Metalurgical the name it is over boiled alloy. So what happened in those rare cases except the Cu and Sn, the zinc (Zn) will evaporate. This it is hapened because the operator introduce to late the Zn and the Cu + Sn was allready overhit.

Here the melting and boiling point of the penny components in Celsius :
Cu 1083 and 2595
Sn 231.9 and 2602
Zn 420 and 906

I will complete with this Link and also to say that those alloys could be done due to the metals propriety of latent melting and evaporation.
