Thing is,it has that cleaned look to it. The Ultra Sonic machine "shacks" the coin which can cause damage to the coin and whatever chemical you use as the "solution" may harm the coin as well.Luckly this coin had no premium to it,but if it was a valuable coin you would have lowered the value by at least 70%...IMHO. it is a common LWC with millions out there. the cleaning is very apparent and there are only a couple ways to clean a coin that are acceptable. Acetone or Verdicare. verdicare would have cleaned this up and preserved it as well. in this case since its such a common coin it didnt really matter. just don't use that again on a coin

Plain tap water has chemicals in it. And there is still the vibration of the machine. John1

EF details, cleaned. You should never clean coins. Only use pure Acetone and Verdi-Care.

Cleaning is bad, what to use when details are junked up and you want to see what is behind that junk?

So, You found an old penny, and it is worth (copper value) 2 times face value. Sounds like a deal to me. I keep all wheat cents. Find some Morgan dollars, but don't clean them.
