I am struggling with a firm identification for this coin.
It appears to be a Carlos IIII 1794 Reals coin counter stamped George III as like this .....
https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces27971.html
BUT ...
it is not silver. It looks and feels like copper, it is not flat and is somewhat 'dinged' like copper.
Weight is light at 21.3g (silver is 27g), diameter approx 38mm.
I cannot find anything quite like it in copper but it just does not appear to be silver.
Any thoughts/ideas would be appreciated.
Cheers
Brian.

That would be a counterfeit of a Bank of England counterstamped dollar. From the crudeness, I would judge a contemporary (circulating) counterfeit.

I am just too naive !
It never crossed my mind that it could be a fake.
Thanks.

I know you are not going to believe me but it still has some original silvering on this low grade piece within the counterstamp area of GIII at the K/6 area. I would give it a GNL# but at this grade level there is no 100% certainty. JPL.
