Recent US Mint Uncirculated Coin Sets have had coins on the left sides close to each other. The left sides contain the dollar, half dollar, one quarter, dime, nickel, and penny.

It is difficult cutting the plastic around individual coins so that the coins will remain inside the blue or red plastic coverings. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to easily cut the plastic so that individual coins will remain inside the plastic coverings?

Thank you in advance.

I just rip mine open and move the coins over to appropriate Dansco albums.

Once you cut it up, one side of the plastic will fall away, leaving the coin housed in the indention of the other side. The red and blue "paper" is barely glued to the plastic and may actually separate into four pieces instead of two. You would have to tape or staple the "free" pieces of plastic in place. It will not be pretty.

If you want to keep the coins in mint plastic, best to just to leave the sett intact.

If you want to keep them individually, better to move them to a 2x2 holder than try to keep them in the mint plastic.

People sell individual uncirculated coins in cut up mint set packaging. The 2023 uncirculated sets have the coins packed very close to each other so cutting them out with the mint packaging intact is going to be tricky.

Micro type saws could work. I have a micro band saw that I use for very tight wood cutting projects.
although I'm not 100% sure what you're trying to achieve.

I think the OP simply wants to cut the 6 coins apart from their common holder while retaining their individual seals. Agree with John that a careful cuts with an Exacto knife is the best approach. There's no way to know how wide the actual sealed area is between each coin.

It is not much. I tried to keep all the quarters intact until Dansco released the album, but it was just easier to stick that one quarter into a 2x2 for now.
