This one is just for the fun of it to show how fingerprints can alter a coins appearance.

It looked normal at first with a great big fingerprint, but as I tilted it the stripes became very colorful.

The oils in the fingerprint seem to have turned the surface white.

Just a spender, wouldn't give it a second look if I got it in change.

Yes agreed that it is a fingerprint. I guess that I haven't studied their effects enough to know whether this "bleaching" of the tone is normal or not.

The oils and acids on our skin have stained this cent forever. (or at least until it rots out from the zinc.)

Give it awhile and the appearense will probably change, but not for the better. To me a coin with FP is a spender unless it is very rare and maybe even then.

You could write one of these into the script of one of those forensic shows on TV.
Title the episode "In for a penny,in for life"

Absolutely agree with everyone about it being a spender and it soon will be.

I just didn't recall a fingerprint changing the contrast so vividly. Usually, it's boring brown.

Thanks for taking a peek.

(Sounds like it might have to be a murder mystery ... at the zoo.)
