Crawford 465/2a: obverse: head of Apollo; behind, A; reverse: curule chair with wreath. Coin of C. Considius Paetus, 46 BCE.

Looking for help on the obverse. Any ideas of the function of the "A"?

Among Republicans, I've found a similar mark (the same A) only on Paetus's coins. Some of his issues of this type have the A, others do not. Thanks for any help!

Probably the officina or person responsible for striking the coin. They don't only use letters, it might be a symbol.
