I have noticed that sometimes when you zoom in/out a page using [CTRL] and [CTRL][-], you can not get it back to normal without doing the reset. I have also noticed that starting with FF3, the zoom setting is applied to all windows and tabs, current and new, on the same domain. Once you set it, it is stuck for that site until you reset it.

If you were zooming images, get the Image Zoom extension for FF.

Easier way to zoom is to hold down Ctrl and scroll with your mouse wheel

Yes, and that is what got him into trouble! This is why I recommended the Zoom Image extension. Zoom one image without affecting the text or the other images. It will also do some better interpolating of the image, making it a little clearer. Not as clean as a real imaging tool like Photoshop, but nice for on-the-fly closeup looks without downloading the image first.
