Nice example of defects like this, commonly found on cents of this era. Definoitely not worth grading. to the CCF!

Not worth grading, but nice BIE and Die Chip, on the 5.
Errers and Varietys.

Thank you all. Appreciate it much. Thought I might have had a winner with some value , but still a nice coin to have.

Well, turns out this is actually the biggest BIE in the whole Lincoln Cent series, so big it has a name, the "Sausage" . It is also a "crossover" coin, in that it is both a BIE and an RPM...CONECA 1955-S RPM-004, Stage L to be precise. Here's a link to the coin: http://www.varietyvista.com/02a%20L...5SRPM004.htmAs far as grading, it depends on the actual condition, which is tough to say from the photos, but probably not. I own one of these slabbed as MS65RD that I paid $18 for, but for you it's probably not a money maker unless you can get MS66 or higher, and only ANACS is going to recognize it. In any event, it's a very cool coin, the "king" of BIEs, and being an RPM is a big plus. A real prize coin IMO.

Wow. Thank you for the info and link. I'm still learning here, but yeah this makes me glad I got it, I'm working on another light set up cause I'm not happy with the way this got now that I look at it more, it's in my opinion more of a red color in hands. As for grading, yeah I'm not even wanting to try it lol, I'd go lower on it and say maybe MS64 imo but maybe it would go higher idk? What does it cost to grade coins even?

I often use this BIE as an example for photographing coin details. Here's one I shot a few days ago as part of a lens evaluation. It's a single image, critically-focused on the top surface of the B, so it is not as sharp as it would be if I had done a focus stack, but still a decent view of it. You can see why they call it the Sausage!

Reminds of a 1970's horror movie. I dunno.

Your coin is considered a full BIE and carry's a small premium over face value but as mentioned it's not worth getting it graded, it is not an uncommon error.
