the photos look like they are showing a frosty coin however lighting can always spoil that.

just based on these i'd go MS64

thanks for the feedback guys. you all think the grade is higher than I did. Doesn't the abrasion/whatever across the cheek really drop it down a lot?

not going to grade it, decided to build a Kennedy short set '64 - 70 as I have many already. I'll need to get an accented hair and the other '64 varieties.

as an aside/OT, are the old Whitman holders that are dual sided and not dated decent quality? like this one - https://www.ebay.com/itm/364232851180

what would you guys suggest?
- bought a Whitman 9045

thanks again

now that I have the coin in hand I'm going to go with MS63 as well. Small nicks in the fields on obv and rev and the ding in the hair. Looking at the few PCGS pics of this variety (no MS63 pictured) I'd also have to guess MS63

Does it matter by variety? Many 1964-D pics to compare to. Looking at regular strike 1964-D it might be an MS64

I'm only working on my grading skills, not going to have this graded. It's going into the 64-70 Kennedy set I'm putting together.

Now that you have the coin, it would be nice to see some close up images of the doubling. It's an attractive coin, that dude gave away the farm for $20.

@Brandmeister - I was the only bidder. Guy probably figured it would get more action. I'll try some pics tomorrow but my camera bites. Too bad we can't upload small videos.
