I noticed for like some time after the whole $20 for $20 debacle, prices on NCLT crashed to below issue price.

I left coin collecting for a while. I just didn't feel into it anymore.

I came back into it this year and find bidding on stuff really competitive now. Does anybody else find that collecting has rebounded?

I feel that most (not all), NCLT issues, after their price has bottomed out in the numismatic aftermarket,
will follow bullion price trends.

A way of acquiring bullion coins that usually have very high minting standards.

At least, that is how I collect them.

An exception:
Some NCLT have done very well. An example is the 2009 one ounce proof Double Eagle.
I would love to get one of those!

I am not surprised that the $20 for $20 issue is regarded as a debacle. I will move in on these at near bullion pricing.

In my experience, it is a coin-by-coin situation as to whether there is renewed pricing pressure on NCLT issues. There has been a bit of a general increase due to the price of silver/gold rising, but I don't consider that an increase in the numismatic component of a coin's market price.

If there is any rebounding of prices, it is for a few select coins. Overall there is no rebounding of prices. You only have to look at coin stock at major online dealers like Gatewest. Except for a few coins, every 2023 release is in stock at issue price.

As for ebay, few coins sell above issue price. A few like the Allegory of Peace sell for a small premium that is eaten away by fees. Hardly worth the effort.

Recent ebay policies like charging taxes on purchases that was previously tax exempt have also put a damper on sales.

Inflation, cost of living increases, leave little disposable income for
unnecessary hobbies.

MoneyPenney just nailed it.

The NCLT buyer mindset needs to be 100% about emotional desirability rather than the potential for profit. They all eventually reach bullion prices with a premium.
