I bought a roll of wheats recently, and as I was going through them I came upon this coin. The obverse looks like a 1943 copper penny. The rim looks like metal and the reverse looks like an odd mix of both. Its really strange looking. Any thoughts?

2.78gm. I suspected that too. I checked with a magnet too... magnetic. Do you think someone was trying to create a fake? Is there any other possible reason it would look this way?

Guessing it was just plated at one point, and the plating is wearing off.
