Perth Mint - We're launching our first coin series featuring the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III on 15 January. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the very first coin in the mintage being expertly crafted. This coin, accompanied by its number one certificate of authenticity, will be displayed in our shop from 15 January 2024.
If the initials are doubled why doesn't doubling occur on the rest of that side - or is that how they "expertly crafted" those coins? Genuine question, there are lots of other examples of "doubling" where it only occurs on a part of the coin and not the rest of the same side. I would have thought that if it were due to some fault during pressing that it would be evident elsewhere. Why only the initials?
I don't know how the doubling occurred or why only a small part of it has the doubling. There is also an odd line along the back side of Charles' head like maybe it was doubled too. Without a clean Kangaroo for me to compare to I can only guess if the line is normal or not.
