I am not a World Coin person, but I am a curious person for sure. This coin was in a collection that I obtained from a widow woman. Her husband found it to be something that he wanted to keep. I am interested in knowing What & Why. It is well traveled and nothing that I can make out. Is there anyone out there that can fill in any of the holes in my curiosity?

I was about to abandon my Numista search when I finally found it

Philippines, 1 quarto, Carlos IV. Very scarce.

The date seems to be 1807; that's not on Numista but other sources do include it and I found pictures. I hadn't checked NGC yet.

january1may, you are a scholar and a gentleperson!! I can't imagine how many images I looked at trying to find this. The man who had this coin was a jeweler and had a beautiful collection. I was fortunate to obtain it. I was sure that he had a reason for keeping this coin. Thank you for your tenacity.
