Wondering if anyone can give info on my type 3, stutter strike (closest description I could find), on a 1988 Lincoln Cent. Found an elongated gas bubble on obverse side.

Yes it has much corrosion but raised metal from the I in United to the last T in States that is not attached to the lettering at all. I also noticed it is in the close vicinity of the gas bubble with approximately the same length.

Ridge Ring is something I did not see before but the fields are normal between the letters.
the raised metal only occurs above each letter, dot above I slash above T, slash above E and so on. I would think that if the edge was wore out it would effect the whole edge. There is no sliding or doubling on any part of the coin.

It looks like split copper plating to me. Some say it is caused by a type of Machine Doubling.
