Before dinner tonight, I was trying to pick out a nice uncirculated 1976-D Kennedy online. I spotted what appeared to be doubling on IGWT and the T of Liberty.

Checked Wexler, nada. Checked Variety Vista, and there are not entries that show this specifically. I did find a few similar examples on PCGS TrueView. Is this just more Kennedy hub doubling? It seems prevalent for some years. But if that's the case, and this is just par for the course, then why don't any of the usual variety websites discuss the hub doubling for this year in any detail?

Well, I immediately wondered if it were hub doubling, because 1. This era of Kennedy halves seem to have hub doubling sometimes, and 2. if people had found coins with clear doubling like 90105335, and it was die doubling, I think they would have made a bigger deal over it. I mean, the IGWT splits go all the way over to the S in Trust. The bicentennials are popular, too. People have looked at them thoroughly.

James Wiles has documented 76D MDO-001 (Master Die Obverse), what you refer to as hub doubling, in his Kennedy half dollar book, and the CONECA Master Listings. The description he uses is 1976-D MDO-001, MD-1-O-II-C (P, D, S, PR), light spread on date, strength of doubling will vary depending upon hub and die state. Attached are a couple of photos of the 76D MDO-001 doubling in my collection. I think what you show in your photos would just be referred to as just minor doubling.
