Does anybody have a list of every type of coin the the RCM will produce this year? I can't find a place with this list and I know they make a lot of types of coins. Thanks

Try their website,www.mint.ca It would take for ever to upload a list given the number of NCLT coins they produce.

I guess I should of said I wasn't thinking about all the colored stuff or the souvenir kind of things, just the regular circulating and commemoratives. Also, is there more than 1 mint, or is there just 1? I'll check out their website, hopefully they will have all of them. Thanks for everything.

The RCM also produces coinage/products for other countries. I'm sure that they contract produce for a minimum order as well. There are the Ottawa and Winnipeg mints in Canada, but I don't remember which one produces what. They both produced circulation, but one has more to do with collector stuff than the other... I google. Wiki quote... "The RCM facility in Winnipeg started to manufacture coins, and the facility was officially opened in 1976. The Winnipeg branch of the Royal Canadian Mint allowed Ottawa to concentrate solely on collector coins while the Winnipeg mint would produce the entire supply of circulation coins." ... edit >>> wiki link VVV http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Canadian_Mint

I visited the RCM Ottawa gift shop last week and bought a roll of each 1 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 25 cent Caribou and $2.00. They said the 50 cent is coming April 15 and they don't know when the normal loon dollar coin is coming out. ALL Cdn circ coins are minted in Winnipeg and ALL Cdn commemoratives or non-circs are minted in Ottawa. There is no sharing or mixing or exceptions to that rule. One reason is that Winnipeg doesn't have the Fort Knox security needed to hold $600,000,000 worth of gold bars plus silver and platinum as we saw on the Rick Mercer report.

Quote: Olympic 25 cents: Ice Sledge Hockey The sledge hockey quarter is going to be released in March of 2010, during the Paralympic games. Edit: Also, the Bobsleigh quarter that was supposed to be released in 2008 was pushed back to June 2009.

I would think that one glaring exception would be Canadian dimes produced by the Philadelphia Mint in 1968. And of course, another exception would be prior to the opening of the Winnipeg Mint... 1976 ain't all that long ago. Another exception is Canadian and Newfoundland gold coinage minted at the London and Heaton Mints in the U.K. I'm sure there are others but I'm too lazy to open a book... ahem.

Thanks thecanadianian for the updated information on the Olympic coin release dates.
That explains why I have not seen any bobsled quarters in the several hundred quarters I searched through.

The professor to Dr. Zoidberg(hysterically)... "You just killed my lawyer!! Dr. Zoidberg happily replies... "You're welcome!" Don't flame me! I'm really not an anti-lawyerite... I have lawyer type friends*, really! Circulation coinage is typically not my forte, unless it is silver(Ag), that's why I knew about the 1968 dimes. ... and doesn't the Winnipeg Mint produce a Proof Like Cello mint set with the Winnipeg mint mark?(I'm still too lazy to open a book, so feel free to correct me.) * What's so hard to believe about that I have friends

Is there only one Cent and one Nickel variety this year or are there more than one of each denomination? I need to keep my set up to date! ~ Jim

Jim, From what I have seen so far, it seems like only one variety of 1 cent and 5 cent coins exist each for 2009. Things have been pretty stable from 2007 onwards. The period of 2002 thru 2006 is where the multiple varieties were made to account for the following factors: 1) Changing the queen effigy from crowned to uncrowned in 2003 2) Changing mint marks from "P" to " RCM" in 2006 3) Change in planchet composition from zinc to steel from 2002 to 2006

The Royal Australian Mint has struck commemorative coins for Canada back in 1992 or 93. They are reported in the RAM's annual report from then.
