If it's a $45 coin, why would you submit it?

I meant $45 dollars in fees and round shipping per coin to have them graded, slabbed and returned to me.

I've been mulling over the minimum coin value for submitting. I think for me it would need to be a $100 value minimum.

If all the stars line up on this coin, and you are quite sure it is the real deal,
Have it graded and evaluated for the error.

So it made it to PCGS. But I got a notice there was a "Problem Order", and need to contact PCGS problem order support. Hopefully this is an easy fix.

Posting a quick-ish video update (pre-mailing to PCGS)

This is something of me chattering on for ~10 minutes on how this coin was found, me intending to send it to PCGS years ago and also at present, and all the luck surrounding its survival after being found.

PCGS has a issue department, and once I connected with them, they were super easy to work with around the issue flagged last week. I did not fill out the form accurately.

Imagine having a coin like this and not sending it in right away..
You realize when you know how to think, it empowers you far beyond those who know only what to think.

Quick update

PCGS just billed and emailed me the grade is ready. Not sure if that indicates the coin was authenticated as a mint error, or just a really expensive 1983 zinc penny or other.
Going to let this one be a surprise when it arrives and I unbox the coin.

Interesting, if you login to your account it shows nothing? There should be some info.

no no the email said if you want a surprise wait for it to arrive. And since I enjoy making videos it will be better for the occasion to also learn at time of opening.

From PCGS email: If you want your grades to be a surprise, don't check them yet! Sometimes it's more fun to 'reveal' the grades when you open your return shipment. It's entirely up to you.

Personally, I don't like surprises and I hate waiting.

In this scenario (if it were my coin) I'd want to know yesterday.

Regarding waiting. I did put it away in a coin box for a couple years, so what's 1 more week. Right? I will be texting everyone who joked about my penny obsession if this is does come back authentic.

I don't think I paid a special fee. I went a little OCD on this submission, calling numerous times and actually having someone on the phone from PCGS as I filled out the form. And still filled out one of the submission forms wrong... Anyways for the potential mint error I believe it was $70 for mint error service level. And was instructed to write out what I believed the coin to be in the Description/variety section of the form. I filled out the paper not the online version as I couldn't find mint error in the online form.

Very excited!
