If the coin was "stuck" as you say in the fin, how does it rotate so that all of the edge is evenly smashed smooth? If it was stuck in the fin, only one spot on the edge would be wore smooth. In your scenario it's stuck but still rotates. And yes spooned is a catch all for using anything to do the job.
Cujohn, I think you are misunderstanding what bobby means by "stuck". It's not literally stuck, no moving but stuck in the sense that centrifugal force is holding it at that level but still rolling back and forth on the fin, at least that's how I understood it.

Who makes rings out of dimes? Who would it fit?

Looks like dime rings can be made actually up to size 8, usually from silver dimes. https://www.etsy.com/listing/779398...n-ring-pinky ...but usually would be from a dryer.
Edit: or up to size 12.5 https://www.etsy.com/listing/612800...-nickel-clad

Otherwise you'd have to do it another way like the DIME-IN-RING Engagement Gag Gift. Was saving for coin humor but seems appropriate here https://www.ebay.com/itm/195999304087

Notice it says "baby." Also, I would bet my last dollar those are made with machining tools, Not typical spooning. You can make them bigger with punches, etc. than with the old fashioned spooning method.

I've been gone a couple days. Ok, are you saying that the dime somehow gets inside of the fin? And bangs around inside the fin? If so why wouldn't the obv and rev get damaged too? And if so, with the edge thicker how does it get out? I took it as you were saying that the dime gets stuck at the end of the fin where your red arrow is pointing to.? And yes spooned is a catch all for a coin with this edge.

Thanks CU, Me I done tests on dryers and whash machines. I have 3 Dryers and 4 whash machine. It is my wife. As dryers I have comercial Bosh, Miele and Samsung and Wash 2 Bosh,Miele and Samsung. I have baskets to put with nice list how the ingredients go on.

I put coins in pockets, free coins, and never come as we describe as Dryer Coins. In Wash machine or dryer the O and R will have marks everywhere, coins design destroy, the rims Sorry no. Maybe if pass and go inside the mechanical part.

Conclusion: Spooned or Dryer mean the coin was laterally and horizontal and Vertical ablated. As per Mike Diamond say: many trivial denominations we use.

Like me I smille when I see LAM, improper denomination, but hard to make those peoples who use from 30 years or more to accept and change.

That is.

This is neither a spooned coin nor a Dryer Coin. It was, however, damaged outside the Mint by being rolled and squeezed in the horizontal plane by a hand-cranked or motor-driven mechanical device.
