Hello,

I am out looking for a new metal detector and see the top of the line Whites is now called a Spectra V3. Anyone try one? Is it worth the ($1700) price tag?

Also, anyone try out the DFX 300 (with 12 inch coil)? How does it perform. where is the best place to get one at a discount? I have had 5 detectors over the last 20 years.

I was looking at the new whites on the internet , I'm not sure I would go for it at that price , even though it has some cool functions , the DFX is a fine machine and I use its predecessor the Spectrum which still suits me fine and has never failed to find the good stuff even after 13 plus years of use .

as for a discount I dont think the V3 will have any special offers for a couple of years .

Way outside my price range so I have not even looked at it.. I am still happy with my entry level Ace 250.
Best advice I can give you is to try one out. Find your local whites dealer and I am sure he/she will let you play with one. I had no trouble with Whites or Garrett when I was looking for a detector. Both dealers were more then happy to let me swing around with various models.
