I found this coin amongst many others in my dad's collection, and it was the only one with a strange surface. I searched the web for images of strike through errors with cloth or grease, but this doesn't seem to match any of them. Any ideas? Is it post mint damage? Acid? Any thoughts greatly appreciated!

to the CCF Your coin was a victim of a wire wheel. Just PMD. But at least it's worth silver content.

Thank you! As soon as I googled "wire wheel", I found an image of a penny that had the same type of surface that was cleaned with a wire wheel. Now I know!

The reverse makes zero sense on this one. Looks completely Incuse, and how would that be achieved?

I don't have a scale so can't get the weight. The width is the same as a regular quarter.

And the rims (reeds?) Please make an effort if it is possible to take this pic. This pic (photo) is very decisive.

@silviosi seems to doubt the authenticity of this coin. Anyone else?

Woah, I stared at it for like 20 seconds and it changed dimensions. Serious, it was an optical illusion, Like a Grand Illusion.

@ Coinfrog: Yes I doubt the authenticity by many factors and I will post if the OP can not provide my request.
