My father past and I'm now going through coins he has collected during his 98 years. I have a 1944-S Lincoln Penny that has an odd rounded rim which covers In God We Trust and part of the L in Liberty. From the back side it looks like the penny was inserted into a holder. What do people make of this? At first I thought it was a minting error but from the back it seems this is post-minting.

Looks like a mount that was never taken off the coin.

Thank for the welcome and the response. Well, my first post turned out to be pretty simple.

You can probably pop the coin out of this mount pretty easily by pushing hard on the obverse.
