I've purchased US coins from Allens on and off over the years. The site is a little tricky to navigate because their coins are not front and center. I just realized that they have a very extensive foreign section. The coins are mostly not rare, and mostly from the last 150 years, but it was worth browsing through.

I thought their prices for German States are a bit too high.

I didn't see any real bargains in French coins either sel, but I did see a few Bordeaux mint 5 Francs that interested me. There is also a 1762 Holland rider (ducaton), which is pretty unusual. For someone who is trying to collect a coin from every country in the world, it's a pretty good source....where else would you go to get a Burundi franc or a Botswana pula?

I started collecting world coins leafing through albums and going through boxes in shops. Not too many dealers doing that anymore.

I've used Allen's a lot for US and Portuguese coins the prices aren't the lowest but for US they are close to greysheet and I would say conservatively graded. I've been a happy customer. I have a relationship with a few of the salespeople so I can get pictures before I buy which makes it much easier for me.

Not surprising that the US coin market in detail is much better understood by both collectors and dealers in the US.

As a collector across the whole of numismatics, I need and have perhaps accumulated over a lifetime, a wider body of knowledge, (includes pricing), that also includes World coinages generally, as well as ancients and medieval.

For US coins, CCF is my 'go to'.

Allen's is my LCS, and I'm embarrassed to say I've never checked out their world coins. I checked the list and saw one of the few modern coins that's been on my radar screen for a while, so I may drop in sometime.
