But this is not a counterfeit coin, is it? It is a round. The weight does not prove (or disprove) anything.

It can. The round has 1 troy ounce stamped on it. If it weighs short, then it can not be legit, right?

If it weighs short, it weighs short.

But it doesn't guarantee that it isn't silver. Certainly someone somewhere has tried to stiff people by making underweight rounds.

But my main point remains that it doesn't prove anything if it *does* weigh exactly one ounce.
