I have something that looks like a small medallion or token with old Queen Victoria but she's facing right. All the other ones I've ever seen were facing left. Reverse is completely flat and blank. Anyone seen this before?

@blu can you please measure and add both the diameter and weight of this piece to the thread? Thx.

Also, does the top of your item show any disturbance, as if a loop had been removed?

The text shows an interesting difference from that on the Victoria bronze penny. Here we have what appears to be "BRITE" instead of "BRITT". Anyone got any thoughts on this?

Also, does the reverse show any signs of having once been fixed to something?

Interesting. I imagine it was made for a cheap piece of jewellery, for example, for children dressing up. Maybe blundered legend and reversed portrait were deliberately done to avoid the maker being accused of forgery.

Apologies for delay in responding, here are approx measurements: 24mm diameter, 1mm thickness, 6g weight. There's a tiny bit of schmutz on the back that might be old glue, and a small part of the edge right above the head does seem a bit flat, so perhaps there was a fastener or loop removed. Thanks for the comments everyone, seems like this might have been jewelry after all, and yes the deviances between this and, say, a 1 shilling coin may have been deliberate to prevent it from being used as legal tender.

Sheesh. You'd think whomever made this token had never actually read the legends on a Victorian coin, or seen her image.

The addition of IND IMP would put this late in Victoria's reign, but the bust is definitely NOT Victoria unless HM The Queen lost a few stone (quite an impressive diet?)
