Did a little research on Cuds and they can be a little like coin clips that affect the coin else were.
This 2008 Canadian 1 cent has a nice rim Cud at about 5:00. Note the inner ring of the coin from 6:00 to 12:00 is normal.[left half] Then from 12:00 back to the rim Cud of 5:00 its missing. [right half]. I think the rim Cud caused this. Note its a 1 earing type 2008. Found about a dozen of these.

That's not a Cud.
A Cud has extra metal like a die chip, not missing metal.

Is the rim part of the anvil die? To me it looks more like a Rim Fin from a collar issue than a Cud resulting from a broken die. It extends along the rim edge in both directions away from the main mass.

Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
