I'm new to this forum and new to coins. I've been doing a little research here and there, and I have learned just enough to know that I have come across an unusual US quarter. Just want to know what I'm dealing with.

I have a 2012 US Alaska Denali quarter, but the obverse is rotated 180 degrees from the reverse. Can anyone tell me if that is by design? I would show pics, but they show nothing unusual ( according to my untrained eye). So to recap, the obverse is upside down compared to the reverse. Any feedback is appreciated. I'm Canadian, so US money is foreign to me (pun intended lol).

This is the correct coin orientation for a U.S. coin, as opposed to a medallic orientation, where there is no 180-degree flip.

Canadian coins rotate from 3 oclock so the 3 goes to the 9 oclock position.
US coins rotate 6 ocklock to the 12 oclock position.

Hope you under stand this .

US coinage have what is called the 'Coin turn"
and Canada (and the UK - among others) use 'Medal turn'
