1826 George IV 1 farthing - copper - 4.69g - 21.9mm
This coin is a nicer example of the one that Numista has shown (with the exception of the small field ding that almost penetrated the entire coin)

Nice one, Dearborn! Better than mine too! That field ding looks interesting - is it a flan defect perhaps?

Thanks numis

What is a flan defect? I have not heard of that.

It looks like a partial puncture to me a tiny hols on the reverse and causing a bump on the obverse

Same as a planchet defect, I suppose.

But the bump on the obverse points to PMD, otherwise it would have been flattened at striking, I think.

Still, it is a very nice coin.

Sorry - I was using an 'Olde English' word, like 'lorry' for 'truck' or 'lift' for 'elevator'...

Both nice coins shown here and I am surprised at the paucity of the Numista example, which looks to have been cleaned and re-toned to try to disguise the wear.
In the end, Numista is dependent on users submitting photos, so maybe no one has submitted a better one yet.
They are not difficult to get in decent grade - here are mine, showing both varieties for this year:

I don't have the bare bust variety, but the one I have was formerly in Colin Cooke's collection. Fiery red lustre on it, but a few carbon marks around the feet of Britannia.

I suspect a partial hole, not a planchet defect. Still a nice coin in its other aspects.
