Oldmike, the 1979 DDO has still eluded me to this day, very good catch! mcshilling, The doubled die Oldmike is referring to is this one, http://goccf.com/t/439340Enyaw, 12-QEII-1D-DDR-T2-SC listed in my book was one of my favorite doubled die varieties to examine, the notching is most certainly impressive, great find! Okiecoiner, MD will never show notching, it's simply not possible, especially as severe as the notching that is present on the loon dollar Enyaw has posted. If you would like to gain a clear understanding of Canadian doubled die varieties and how to tell the difference between common forms of worthless doubling and a genuine doubled die, feel free to send me an email and I will issue you a PDF copy of Modern Canadian Doubled Die Varieties.

I received my digital copy and looking at it in full detail. I do an enormous amount of coin searching and always on the look out for double dies. There are for sure many undiscovered coins out there and its great to see a book to document this stuff, I for sure with any findings to share and get published in the future. My most famous discovery was the number 16 Double Yoke with Ken Potter. I sent in to him and we got it attributed on his data base.
How I found the 16 Double Yoke variety. All the varieties were always found in the upper right hand side of the Ox. With thinking was it possible the Yoke could be floating in a 360 degree. So I went looking in other areas of the coin. Believe it or not the first uncirculated roll I had, BOOM there it was.

I went through five rolls of 1979 cents this afternoon and I believe I've found three of the DDO. Super hard to photograph with my cellphone camera. I actually have many clean rolls of this year to search.
