My father-in-law loved wheat pennies and I found this one buried in one of the rolls I inherited.....stood out immediately.
It seems to be in great condition. Weighs only 0.055 vs 0.115 gms on the scale. Has a very thin planchet, and still has nice color....very light strike on both the obverse and reverse. So instead of having doubling, I seem to have a half strike coin on both sides!! Lol!!
Any comments are appreciated!!!
I'm new to these boards and have some nice error coins I'll be posting.

This is just a coin that was dipped in acid. The so called "poor man's" 1955 can refer to either worthless Machine Doubling or (less commonly) the actual doubled die FS-102, which is still a very rare and major die variety, but is the "poor man's" option in the sense that it's a 1955 DDO that will only cost you maybe $100 instead of over $1000.

If you're going through your father in law's collection, I suggest familiarizing yourself with some of the frequently encountered types of error and variety coins you might encounter. Specifically, make sure to check the RPM (repunched mint mark), and DDO / DDR (doubled die obverse/reverse) listings on Variety Vista, Wexler's Die Varieties, or Copper Coins as you search. The three listings will be slightly different depending on which varieties have been sent in to them before, but in general for a new hunter just picking any one of them and using it should be sufficient.

Edit: and definitely read this. https://doubleddie.com/58222.html

Just so you know, you've got the scale set to ounces (oz). The coin is still very light, as 0.055oz is about 1.56g, about half the proper 3.11g mass of a Lincoln Wheat cent.
