I'm in Texas, and when roll searching I find *far* more Denver minted cents than those from Philadelphia. This holds true even for coins that are well more than 15 years old.

I guess this means that the companies that collect the loose coins, roll, and redistribute them have several distribution points in the country, which helps keep the coins segregated.

So do you folks on the east coast the opposite of this?

If so, I thinking of posting a "wanted to buy" on this forum to see if someone will ship me a couple of boxes.

For older coins, say before 2000, I find what seems to be an equal amount from Denver and Philadelphia. This is based on what I get in change, since I have not searched rolls for a few years now.

For newer coins I find mostly Philly (I am on the east coast).

I think travelers do not use coin or cash as much as they used to. They leave their change at home because that is one less thing to worry about at the airport.

I also think that electronic transactions have increased a lot in the last ten years; losing a credit/debit card is a lot easier to handle than losing a lot of cash.

I have to admit, one of the things I used to do more than once a week was to stop by the ATM. Now I might go once a month. I just make sure I have my plastic.

It splits at the Mississippi River. I go to college on the West side of the MS River and find D mint. During the summer and on school breaks I live on the east of the MS River and can find the P mint. So I get both!

I live on the West coast, and am also finding all Denver mint 2009 cents. I haven't yet found any Philadelphia 2009 cents.

My experience is same as above. I live in KY and get mostly all P mints, but increasing D as you go back in dates. Its very hard to find any D mints for past couple of years I'm finding.

As an example. I just went through a box of quarters and for 1999 I got pretty much even #'s of P and D, but for 2008 I got only 0, 1, or 2 D mints for each state. I'd like to do some Quarter trading myself, but need the 50 posts to post in the trade forum.

In Cincinnati it's almost all P mint coins no matter the year. The D mints are always more scarce here. In fact, I'm having a tough time with the MS red roll set I'm putting together...it's very hard to find 2002-2008 D mint coins! When I do, they are usually unacceptable for my roll set.

I'm also in Texas, Greenville area. I get far more Denver here. Like steve199 said, I too get mostly D mints even on older coins. So far I've found one 2009 D, but a friend of mine had two 2009 P. No idea as to how he got those.
