Please look at this 2004-P Jefferson nickel with the surface in question. I have seen something like this on the outer part of coin but not the whole coin. Was something missed during minting process, something with Clad layer?

Coin looks to have been abraded--post-strike damage.

Adding some close up photos. Definitely not scratches. I would like a little clarity other than " PMD". Coin is very clean of any what I will call bad damage.

Acid damage? What's the weight? Either way, it's just damage ( PMD).

The normal weight is supposed to be 5 grams, so I am thinking acid damage, do to the slightly reduced weight.
