This may be a stupid question but the way the rim gets thinner and the L in liberty is up against the rim, is that from the Die Deterioration or is it from PMD. Thanks again. So the working dies were spreading to the rim even before they struck the first planchet. So it was a combination of old master dies and overworked dies. They finally made new masters in 69. Take a look at the difference between 68 and 69 cents. It's like night and day. Report this Post to the Staff
