Curious what you all think of this one. I was leaning VF, but there are only three legible letters on the shield? This has been in an old cardboard folder for the last 40+ years, just took it out for pics.

The area of the field between Ms Liberty and the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th stars is concerning to me. Almost looks like possible graffiti removal from long ago may have occurred.

Otherwise, F15 to VF30 depending on who grades it and what kind of day/night they had before showing up to the grading room.

I wouldn't be ashamed of it if it were mine.

being in a cardboard holder for that amount of time didnt help this one other than to allow some type of toning on top of a cleaning. could be the photos and lighting but the eye appeal is on the lower end.

i agree with westernsky on the right obv field marks. based on how deep they are, and I'm not seeing them crossing over the nearby devices, they be on the die or planchet prior to strike. since its not known I'm going to ignore that for the grade as it doesn't make much a difference as the coin probably gets a details designation regardless

F15 details (cleaned)

I'll say F details (cleaned) as well. Left obverse fields looks iffy.

Difficult to tell based on the photos. The only area of concern for me is the right obverse field. It's not definitive and I like the overall look of the coin. Attractive to me. I think the coin's grade is actually higher but netted down some for the issue in the field. Better photos of that area would help to make a more informed decision.

I'll post up some additional pics later. I think what some of you are seeing on the obverse is what looks like to me an old finger/thumb print distorted by the toning.

Here are some more pics. Note, the first set of pics above were taken at my desk next to a window with a lot of natural light. The first two pics below were taken at my usual spot which seems to be best for coin pics. The last two pics have a bright flashlight lighting it up from the side with most significant obverse field hits circled.

15 straight. Looks like a fingerprint. Some marks but not anywhere near details in my view. Nice coin.

talk about photos making a difference. I now see the fingerprint vs anything else on the field. I don't think the small hits are going to details the coin.

I'm now calling it F15 straight
