I got this out of my Dad's FIDO box a while back. He was going to sell it for melt but I thought I knew what it was. Thought. Tell me what it looks like to y'all::
Looks like a severe dryer/spooned PMD coin to me, worth melt silver if my coin. It also seems to be a D mintmark at that. That is a nice curio conversation piece at least...
I thought just another Dryer Coin but I thought I'd get a second opinion. Then I weighed it and it's 0.45 g short. What's the point in that? I agree with the herpetologist: it's not very attractive, but I'm going to keep it anyway because I don't have anything like it.
Biedercoins, I have a 1944 Philippines 50 Centavos that is very similar to your Franklin half dollar. Rescued it from my parents' "penny jar" back in the '60s. My grandfather operated a dry cleaner shop, so I assume that is where it came from. Weight = 9.84 g as opposed to nominal 10 so it's not as underweight as yours.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures
