Hi everyone new to this community hope you can help.
I have 2 UK pennies that look frosted!
The 1962 weighs 8.8g, 30mm in diameter and 1.5mm thickness, the 1965 penny weighs 8.8g, 31mm diameter and 1.5 thickness.
has anyone come across these pennies before and if so can you shed any light on them, I am stumped! Have uploaded images for your perusal.
I know the weight should be 9.2 roughly, and all of the details are clear, I would appreciate any help you can give me, many thanks in advance.
Safi

to CCF!

They look quite porous or corroded, as though they'd spent some time in the ground or under saltwater.

To CCF! Could have been in the ground for some time. It was in some acidic environment.

Yes, with that amount of damage and weight loss I would say they have been in an acid bath at some stage.

Many thanks guys, I was thinking of sending them to the mint for authentication, but maybe just leave it now as you could be right. I appreciate your input though.

A popular schoolboy trick was to clean/shine old pennies by soaking them in coca cola. Perhaps this is the result.
