On a coin this badly damaged, any weird pattern or shape is going to be caused by that damage, not by some bizarre mint error. And, since zinc rot is prone to spreading, any such damage is unlikely to remain the same appearance. Your "columns" will likely spread aout and merge over time as the zinc underneath continues to corrode.
