Dear friends,
Please help me to attribute Sept. Severus Denarius.
That is Emesa mint but I could not find reverse as MONEI A E AVG
(I instead of T).
There is MONETAE AVG RIC363 (7Bb)
https://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.4.ss.363_7Bb
Thanks in advance.

Quite an interesting coin. It comes from one of the two known the AVG II C obverse dies. The MONETAE AVG, Moneta standing type is a known type combined with this issue. MONEIAE AVG would be a reverse die that I have not seen within this series, which is not unheard of by any means.

There are already a couple of known MONETAE AVG dies, and the error MONEI AVG is also known in later issues some MONEIAE is not out of the question.

It doesn't seem to be a reverse die match to any examples I am aware of.

Here are my MONETAE .

Hello Martin,
Thank you for your answer as, in my opinion, the highest expert on eastern mints. I hope that soon I will hold this coin in my hands and publish more informative photos of this denarius.

This OP example of a Severus portrait...and the first two examples posted by maridvnvm, give me hope that there are large-coin depictions of this emperor out there that will meet my narrow focus on realism. Splendid! Thank you for sharing, pastpost.

We all are envy of your collection and knowledge of ancient numismatics. In my opinion, you are the best specialist on eastern mints.
