could someone tell me whats going on here? would love to have other examples to compare to. couldnt find anything on err-ref and I'm sick of the bs sites that say its"EXTREMELY RARE" "WORTH $4000" etc etc. I'm sure out of all the billions of these coins made over 40 years ago, I just happen to have found the one and only 1978 Rust error cent. I rolled my eyes so hard they almost got stuck around the back side of my head. sorry for the rant. its hard enough to learn about this stuff without having to weed through 250 websites that are just full of crap. id welcome information from anyone who knows what theyre talking about. I'm a little perplexed by whats going on with the area around Lincolns nose and eyes. its looks odd to me, can't get my eyes to make sense of it. since I can't find another 78 cent like this one, that would indicate that more than likely everything going on with this coin is simply damage, correct? thank you all so much for your patience and for being kind enough to share your knowledge with others. *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***
Die polish and maybe some grease on the die around face area, Liberty is worn somewhat flat with a lot of damage, mint mark as stated has broken post which creates a filled D look. The half moon next to face is probably from vending or coin roller machine. In general, the coin has a lot of nicks and no extra value is given.
