CHINA, Eastern Zhou dynasty - Warring States Period. State of Qín. City of Gong. Circa 350-220 BC. Æ Cash (45mm, 8.88 g). Gong in jinwen (bronzeware script) to right of central hole / Blank. BN, Chinoises I 183; Hartill 6.1. Dark green and brown patina with earthen deposits. From the Norman Frank Collection.

Another nice example.

I'm not familiar with these at all but I'm wondering if these were cast when originally made?

If so, is the "lazy L" at k12 remnants of the casting sprue?
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

I think @TypeCoin971793 once wrote an article for CCF some time back describing ancient Chinese casting methods for money complete with casting molds that have been found in archeological digs. Maybe someone can post a link to it.

Yeah, I miss TypeCoin being around CCF. The expert on all things related to ancient Chinese issues. I haven't seen them post in ages, though.

I think some time back he had an opportunity to study abroad and many of us encouraged him to do so. Hope he is living out some adventures abroad.

Although we cannot verify authenticity with this, David Hartill's excellent "Cast Chinese Coins" reference shows us that this is a documented coin design rather than a fantasy piece.
