CHINA, Eastern Zhou dynasty - Warring States Period. State of Zhào. City of Lin. Circa 350-250 BC. Æ Pointed Foot Spade (80x44mm, 19.96 g). Lin Ban in jinwen (bronzeware script) / Blank. Cf. BN, Chinoises I 130 (for another spade of this city); Hartill 3.95. Dark green patina. From the Norman Frank Collection.

(You obviously feel confident in these but, myself, I'd be nervous with such a simplistic design, that these could easily be counterfeited.)
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.

These items came from a reputable auction house that stands behind the authenticity of items sold, so while there is always this type of concern with these items, I feel there is sufficient mitigation as far as these things go. Even the most knowledgeable people can be wrong but we do what we can with what we know.

I had never seen these either until one day I happened to visit the East Asian Art Museum at Harvard while visiting Cambridge. I don't have any affiliation with the university but they had a collection of Chinese money and various spades. Unfortunately the Museum I think still bears the name of the disgraced Sacklers who apparently enriched themselves by causing an opioid epidemic in our country through their aggressive and irresponsible marketing tactics.

Although we cannot verify authenticity with this, David Hartill's excellent "Cast Chinese Coins" reference shows us that this is a documented coin design rather than a fantasy piece.
